Saturday Session (with Zoe & Brenda) 5.5km (and optional extra 5.5km), Ripley

Super-easy paced 5.5km FLAT loop with Zoe & Brenda, from Ripley village and along the River Wey to Newark Lock, followed by an OPTIONAL further 5.5km loop to Pyreford Lock. You can choose on the day if you want to do the second part. This run is ideal for those looking to build/rebuild both theirs and their dog’s fitness levels, as well as those wanting to increase their distance at an easy pace.  Easy running stretches followed by walking breaks as needed and coaching for canicross cues on an as-needed basis.

Please arrive by 6.45am at the latest, so that you have time to kit up/let your dog toilet etc. We will move off at 7:00am promptly. It will be fairly dark to start so bring head torches! There’s a bit of a walk-up walk/jog through the village and a road to cross, to get from the car park to the start of the run, but we’ll finish by the cars.

Difficulty: This will be an easy, flat run. Likely to be slippery in the mud in places!

Trails: Combination of earth trails, grassy fields and riverside paths. The second loop has a short road section we’ll walk down.

Pace: There are no pace requirements and overall speed will be determined by attendees, but individual run intervals are unlikely to be faster than 7 mins/km. However there will be options for faster runners to run ahead in places. Expect to take up to 90-120 minutes for the full 11km, including rest stops.

Warnings/Hazards: MUD! There are likely to be ducks and other waterfowl along the paths. Plenty of dog walkers and possibly cyclists. Golfers on the second loop.

Group Goal: Working towards clean Canicross skills. We will be running together, maintaining distance at gates for smooth navigation through, and lots of call backs if anyone notices anything.
